I cannot believe I haven't ever been here before. Ok, ok, ok, we're super neighborhood-oriented here, but this is a bar I'd move uptown for (hehe). We stopped by Madigan's for an afternoon happy hour, and it was just the perfect mix of great jukebox music, delicious cold beers, breeze from the open windows, sounds of the streetcar, and fantastic service.
My husband ordered a specialty cocktail (Death in the Afternoon - Champagne and Absinthe) and it was delightfully mixed. The green fairy came out to play as I sipped my Juicfer (lots of local beers on tap!)
They've got awesome bar food and a great happy hour. Definitely a neighborhood spot not to miss.
(As a side note, we had been to the restaurant in the back a long time ago. I don't remember loving it as much then, but we'll have to be back for another dinner soon!) -

Madigan's is a neighborhood mainstay. I went quite often way back when I was in college and have stopped in a couple of times in the last couple of months when I was in the area.
Bartenders are good to great. The atmosphere is homey with just a touch of decaying elegance (so very NOLA). When it's a lovely night and the windows are open, it's just glorious.
HH is great and you really do get a cross section of the neighborhood so you might run into almost anyone while here. -

I've been coming here for years. It's a really chill, low key bar with very friendly bartenders. They have a jukebox so you can control your own grooves. They also have a pool table and poker machines. For happy hour they have $4 wells and wines. And they have a good selection of food that comes from next door at GB's Patio & Grill. You can have a seat on the patio and watch a little tv and scarf down some cheese fries. If you want to enjoy a bar that's protected from all the college kids, this is your spot.

This is an inassuming bar tucked at the end of Carrollton. I often forget its even there..my mistake. A friend and I decided to pop in for a drink. It seems like a friendly, neighborhood bar as many of the patrons knew each other. Looks bigger than it appears from the outside...theres a patio area as well as a pool table inside. I tried one of their burgers and it was pretty damn tasty. We left the bar and my debit card was still behind the bar..i had driven for abt 10 min before remembering tht i had left it and hadnt paid the check...unfortunately that went completely unnoticed by the waitress..she didnt even know we had left. Smh..other than that it was a good experience.
